Our next Gin Tasting review is on the lovely Burleighs Gin. Having first met at their wonderful Gin School back in June 2017, Liam kindly showed us through their distilling process before we were lucky enough to sample their range. Nestled deep in the Charnwood Forest, you will find Bawdon Lodge Farm, the home of the 45 West Distillery and Burleighs London Dry Gin. Drawing inspiration from surroundings in local Burleighs wood, their unique botanical receipt comes alive with silver birch, dandelion, burdock and elderberry, capturing the true spirit of artisan distilling.

Burleighs PINK was inspired by Head Distiller, James Baxter’s trip to Tokyo, Japan when the cherry blossom was in full swing during Hanami. He then came back and created this delicate, sublime, soft floral gin. This London Dry recipe has been distilled adding Japanese cherry blossom, hibiscus, rose and pink grapefruit added to the botanical mix of Burleighs receipe. It’s smooth with a floral hint upfront accompanied by zesty flavours afterwards, making it very easy drinking.

A truly artisan creation, Burleighs use a beautiful copper pot still. With this distillation process, accompanied by the careful sourcing of ingredients and the skill behind the master distiller, that all contribute to the smooth nature of Burleighs range of both core & extended gins.

Here’s a picture of Trudi raising her pretty pink drink and reminiscing summer evenings which seem a distant haze away. Partnering her Gin with a generous slice of grapefruit and Fever-Tree (can we make Fever-Tree link to their website?) Aromatic Tonic Water for a slight hint of pepper to the flavoursome mix.
