Today, we’re bringing the taste of the Australian beach, straight to your screens, it truly is a holiday in a bottle!

This Australian Dry Gin is distilled in Manly Beach, Sydney, Australia at 43% ABV.

GINSPIRING FACTS…

With over a quarter of the UK population purchasing a bottle of gin in the last 12 months, the question is, how many gin drinkers in the UK know about this beauty?

According to the BBC, there were 361 registered distilleries in the UK in 2018, 166 of which were based in England.

This next fact might surprise you…

In 2014, there were fewer than 10 gin distilleries in Australia compared to the 107 registered five years later.

Mr Gregor, co-owner of the popular Four Pillars Gin said that…

“Australia is making, pound for pound, the best gins in the world right now.”

Irrelevant of what’s happening during this crazy gin boom, one thing that is for sure is, this gin has been inspired by sunrise swims through the crystal-clear waters of Manly’s famed Marine Sanctuary (and there is us sat in the rainy Autumn here in the UK – jealous much?!).

ABOUT THE BRAND BEHIND THIS GIN

Manly Spirits Australian Dry Gin is hand crafted at Sydney’s Northern Beaches’ first artisan distillery. London may still be the leader, butis that only because we had a 300-year head start? Aussie gins are using incredibly indigenous botanicals we cannot locally source here in the UK, such as those used in this bottle.

Manly Spirits use their beautiful copper pot still, their sustainably foraged Australian native and marine botanicals to create this bright, fresh citrus & well-balanced gin.

We owe it to Vanessa & David, the distillers behind this brilliant bottle. Gin was Vanessa’s drink of choice in her yachting days and thankfully after their trip to Tasmania, came up with the genius idea to start making their own!

ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN DRY GIN

As soon as I opened the eye-catching and unique silver stopper, the scent of an imported sunny Australian beach hit me.

Using the above flavours is really setting a compelling difference to the flavours we’re experiencing being used in the UK and it’s so refreshing!

TASTING MANLY SPIRITS AUSTRALIAN DRY GIN

There is a subtle hint of anise myrtle running throughout the initial sip. Although it’s deliciously juniper forward, there are aromatic notes of warming spice along with a delicate fruit flavour on the palate. A very easy drinking, perfect after-work G&T! I’m really looking forward to playing around with some craft cocktails using this gin, I will update you on my recipes & findings over the next couple of weeks.

THE PERFECT SERVE

We’re enjoying our G&T today with lots of ice, our eyes closed whilst we imagine drinking our G&T on Manly Beach!

  • Plenty of ice (the larger the cubes, the better!)
  • 50ml Manly Spirits Australian Dry Gin
  • Dried Lemon & Pineapple (a big juicy orange wheel also works)
  • A premium Indian tonic water
